The practice was commissioned to design two high quality new build homes within the Bowdon Conservation Area of South Manchester.
Situated on a corner plot at the end of a private suburban cul-de-sac, but close to significant period properties, the plan mirrors the footprint of the adjacent dwelling, creating a set piece at the end of the street.
Each house is designed from the inside out, providing generous light filled spaces, whilst taking cues from the surrounding context: bay windows, garden rooms, grand entrance halls with feature staircases, and inhabited attic spaces.
The forms are simple and pared back. Punched brick volumes with slate clad roofs, zinc dormers, stone bays, indented brick detailing and bronze doors, creating high-end, stylish, contextually responsive new homes.
