We are delighted to finally unveil a concept image for a regional autism centre design in Liverpool, as part of World Autism Awareness Day.
The design was developed on behalf of Julie Simpson, founder of local charity Autism Adventures UK, alongside support from regional experts in the field.
The brief was to create a dedicated community facility on an 8000 sqm site, to assist those with autism and their families. A multi-use day centre will aim to provide a drop-in service with a range of indoor and outdoor spaces, including an all weather pitch, allotments, a small running track, sensory rooms and an ICT library.
Alongside this, a separate building will accommodate staff facilities, with designated staff bedrooms to allow overnight care for live in residents with a range of conditions. From those who are looking to socialise more and integrate into the wider community, to those with more intensive requirements, this will be an important part of the local community.
The design is intended to be low cost, flexible, sustainable, and fully accessible.
